Bar Soap

Bar Soap

Washing dirt off your skin is so much more than stepping in a shower or soaking in a tub. Skin cleansers of all types have come in many different forms like body soaps, scrubs or washes. Even though all 3 cleansers can "clean" your skin, each one has it's own unique quality to them.

Bar Soap - is excellent at cleaning the skin. It also has a higher pH (more alkaline) than that of skin which can disrupt the normal pH balance. Soap's excellent cleaning properties for removing dirt and grime can also wash off the layer of protein and fats that reside in the skin. So, if you're looking to make your skin feel and look clean, a plain bar soap will do the job.

Body Scrub - similar to soap whose primary function is to "scrub" or remove the skin's dead cells by exfoliation. Exfoliation uses chemicals like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or fruit enzymes to loosen the microscopic particles that hold skin together. And by exfoliation, skin appears more youthful and healthy looking.

Body Wash - known as the alternative to soap is another skin cleanser. Some call Body Washes as the gentler and more hygienic solution to skincare due in part to the addition of moisturizers that keep the skin from drying out. Body Washes also stay inside the packaging, unlike soap where it's constantly exposed to skin and bacteria.

There you have it. Whether you're planning on buying a Bar Soap, Body Scrub or Body Wash, all 3 will clean your skin and depending on the type of skin you have (normal, dry, oily or combination) you'll want to check our blog post on which bar soap will work best for your specific skin type.
