Butters

Butters

Butters aren't created equal. Butters can be animal-based like those derived from dairy or from plants like nuts and seeds. Both types of butter can contain high amounts of fat and calories.

In recent times, butter made from nuts and seeds has revolutionized the way we see butter. The commercial-grade dairy butter you see in grocery stores has seen its fair share of competition from plant-based, "vegan" butter derived from nuts and seeds.

Both nut and seed butter which have been grounded to create a creamy or buttery spread are popular "healthier" options in vegan diets. Common nut butter can come from acorn, almond, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia, peanut, pecan, pistachio or walnut. Whereas seed butter is either made from pumpkin seed, sesame seed, soynuts, sunflower or hummus.

If you want to spice up your bread or slather some spread to give your dishes that unique flavor, nut butter can reward your taste buds a positively nutty experience!
